Korea Day 19: School, Pizza, and a Board Game Cafe
|Today was a nice low key day. I was feeling worn out so I skipped the afternoon’s cultural excursion to a tea house and opted to sleep instead. In the evening I walked with the others to Jeongneug-dong to eat dinner at Pizza School, and then spent the rest of the night hanging out in the Game Board Cafe studying and playing games.

Kookmin University
I often have to remind myself that I can’t do everything and that taking care of myself is important. I was feeling worn down so I reluctantly skipped the afternoon’s cultural excursion to Myungwon Folk House (Korean Tea Ceremony) in order to rest and catch up on some much-needed sleep. I was told I didn’t miss much since we had already done a tea ceremony during our Temple Stay. That made me feel a bit better about missing out despite the coolness of the photos people took.
Walking back to the dorm from class.
I slept from about 12:30 to 5 pm. The proceeded to try to organize the chaotic state of our dorm room. I really enjoyed staying the storm but things can get out of hand when you’re on the go all the time and four people are sharing one very small dorm.
Dinner at Pizza School
In the evening eight of us (me, Kevin, Sushant, Mausam, Bethany, Daisy, Tabitha, and Jeremiah) decided to walk to Jeongneung-dong to eat at Pizza School for dinner. We walked in a direction we had never traveled before and got to enjoy some new sights. After dinner, we then caught a bus back to Kookmin.
Walking uphill for the first time. We passed the tea house that I missed out on early in the afternoon. Looking back toward the dorms. only a little claustrophobic Seoul is very dense. Businesses have to get created with how they store and organize stuff. back where Bethany and I first arrived near Kookmin
Board Game Cafe
I went back to the room for a bit after returning to Kookmin and then met up with the others around 10pm at the Board Game Cafe. I wish I’d known about this place when we first arrived at Kookmin. It’s located underneath the minimart on a basement level and is super convenient for hanging out and studying. The guy that runs it is the brother of the guy that managed the minimart, both of whom are super nice.
The glass-covered stairwell leads downstairs to the Game Board Cafe. There’s not any obvious signage (that I can read) so I’m not sure how the others discovered this place. It’s always a pleasure to be greeted like this. π Studying & trying KGB vodka Sushant joins us for some games Dani & Alaina are drowning in homework so can’t join the fun yet. Homerun Balls courtesy of the manager. Playing this game. We added a rule that the loser of each round gets bopped with the hammer. Head back to the dorms before curfew.
