Korea Day 11: Rest Day

Being constantly on the go caught up to me today. I felt worn out and hurt all over when I woke up so I skipped class and slept all morning, and then took it easy the rest of the day. I attended a special lecture on k-pop around 3:30 in the afternoon and then walked around campus with Tabitha. Later Jeremiah joined us and we studied together. In the evening I walked over to the Underground with Sushant, Mausam, Dani, and Alaina to eat fried chicken for dinner. We stopped by the bakery on our way back to the dorm study hall. It was a nice low-key day.

Day 11 Highlights

  • Felt unwell so I skipped class and slept all morning
  • Special Lecture on K-Pop
  • Exploring Campus
  • Fried Chicken dinner at Nom, Underground
  • Study Hall

Feeling Worn Out

I got up to go to class but I was so tired and sore all over that I decided to stay in my room and rest. I was sad to miss class but I know from experience that I can’t just push myself to keep going all the time. My body was not prepared for all the uphill walking, and I was definitely feeling the toll of trying to keep up with all the youngsters.

Special Lecture on K-Pop

I finally left my room mid afternoon to catch our 3:30 pm special lecture on K-Pop. We learned about k-pop characteristics, who some of the big names in k-pop are, and how K-Pop has helped South Korea receive attention globally.

Hanging Out Around Campus

After the k-pop lecture Tabitha, Jeremiah, and I went to a cafe in the Student Union building to grab a snack and study. Afterwards Tabitha and I walked around campus and had fun taking photos with various outdoor art installations. We found another convenience store on campus and then returned to our room to rest for a few hours before meeting up with Jeremiah in the study hall to work on homework together.

Dinner in the Underground

For dinner, I met up with Dani, Alaina, Mausam, and Sushant. We walked over to the Underground area and decided to dine at a fried chicken restaurant I’m just going to call Nom.

Teasing each other about proper Korean drinking etiquette. It’s very structured and interesting. Learn about Korean Drinking Etiquette here.

Study Hall

When we returned to the dorm we hung out in the Study Hall and played Star Flux.
