Today was a bit of a rest day. I got up and did laundry in the ‘coin laundry’ located in the basement of our hotel while Karl slept in. Once the clothes made it into the dryer I walked to a nearby McDonalds to surprise Karl with breakfast. Most of the menu options were similar. I ordered an Ebi Filet which turned out to be a very yummy shrimp burger.
Coin Laundry – 300 yen to wash, and 100 yen for 30 minutes in the dryer.
McDonald’s
I don’t recall what took us so long (probably our photo issues) but we finally left room at 2:30 to go out and explore.
Yodobashi – six floors of photo goodies! Sadly most of it appeared to be way overpriced but it was nice to examine equipment in person.
Searching for a wrist strap.
Had to shell out for a tripod plate. Thankfully it was the only thing we forgot.
Walked to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building to see the city from the free observation deck on the 45th floor.
Admiring the city.
Just a city street.

Lunch! We found a tasty looking menu — most restaurants have a picture menu or plastic food models outside, and placed our order via a vending machine.
We ordered the bottom two on the right.
Pork and egg donburi (rice bowl).
Yes, I ate raw egg on my green onion and pork? donburi. It was good, and I’m proud of myself for not being a wuss because I would not of tried this if I wasn’t in Japan.
We ordered our meal from this vending machine . It gave us a ticket that the waitress collected inside.
Room – dropped stuff off
Pretty staircase and lobby at our hotel.
Train: Shinjuku to Osaki
Train: purchased fare for train from Osaki to Odaiba (Tokyo Teleport) Odaiba
We made our wat to Odaiba, where the giant Gundam is located. We explored Diver City Mall, completed our pilgrimage to the Gundam which was super cool, and walked around the nicest city park I’ve ever visited. Really wish we had public spaces like this here.
Daiso – bought a sketch book and supplies
The Japanese love sweets. They also utilize plastic food models all over the place.
Cookies and cream and mint chocolate
I tried something along the line of a banana foster crepe. Yum!
Found it!
Sunflowers in the park.
Fuji TV Building — It looks like something out of Tron!
Walked through Seaside Park
The Rainbow Bridge (As viewed from Odiba.)
Look who we found!
Train: Tokyo teleport to Osaki
Train: Osaki to Shinjuku
Figured out how to purchase train fares for trains our rail pass doesn’t cover.
Tried: Rose Peach herb tea – light and refreshing with slight tea twang. 2/5
Mmmm watermelon popsicle
The rind has a different flavor and the seeds are made of chocolate. I may have to get another one. 5/5
