Grad Journal: Fall 2018, Week 7

Year 3, Week 7: October 1st – 7th

This week has been cra-zay! To begin, I started a ketogenic diet with the help of Karl who is doing almost all the cooking and meal prep. I weighed in at 296.8 lbs this morning which means I’ve lost 6lbs this week, and I can feel it! My ring keeps sliding off my finger and I feel a little less puffy all over. To help keep myself health-focused and on track I set up a Facebook page called Keto Carol, and an Instagram account @ketocarolventures and have been posting to each every day. I have received a lot of support and motivation which blows my mind. It’s a whole lot easier to stick to a plan when you have people rooting for you.

As of this week, I am also participating in Inktober, an annual drawing challenge. I haven’t drawn in a long time so I am using this as an opportunity to practice and as an opportunity to learn more about Adobe Premiere via time-lapse videos. If you’re interested in seeing my time-lapse videos visit my artist page on Facebook.

School was non-stop Monday-Thursday. On Tuesday I had two photo shoots scheduled, one fell through so I was able to finally get into the lighting studio and photograph my Starfall card game. Afterward, I did a ’90s style portrait shoot for the Drama Department’s production of She Kills Monsters. The images will be used in a projection sequence in the show.

(will come back and add photos later)

Conducted my first audio interview with Karl. It was so much harder than it should have been. He froze up constantly and didn’t take direction well. Also, I probably wasn’t as patient with him as I should have been. I jokingly told my professor the following morning that our interview assignment was going to ruin my marriage. (Thankfully, I have ideas on how to make it go smoother in the future.)
