DragonCon 2018

We’ve been home from DragonCon 2018 for a few days now. Despite the con crud finally hitting me yesterday I would still say this was one of our most enjoyable DragonCons out of the last few years. Mostly because I didn’t get sick while at the con, and because we got out and did a bunch of stuff, mostly thanks to having my sister with us the first few days to show around. This year we spent most of our time introducing Stacey to DragonCon, hanging out with our DCF friends, and attending gaming panels and the arcade. We met Tom Welling and got his autograph. We wanted to see Michael Rosenbaum but never caught him at his table. We attended several dances and I was super pumped that Karl danced with me after only a small amount of begging.

The free arcade was one of the biggest highlights this year for me. There was a large collection of classic arcade games and modern Japanese games, mostly rhythm games that were super fun once you made sure all their flashy lights weren’t going to cause a seizure.

Overall I’d say my personal highlights from this year include:

• Introducing my sister to DragonCon and getting to see all that newbie excitement
• DCF Meet & Greet + Room Party(s)
• Smallville panel with Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum
• Meeting Tom Welling, and seeing favorites such as Jason Isaac in the Walk of Fame
• Doctor Who Ball + Yule Ball
• Atlanta Swing Orchestra
• Lobby Parties in the Hilton
• Aracde, especially Toyka Attack section

Cosplay

• Stacey and I did casual Luigi/Mario cosplays Thursday night
• Karl and I did semi-casual Sith cosplay Saturday
• I did a super casual Sith cosplay Sunday

Thursday

• Checked into the Marriott (Room 819)
• Donned casual Mario and Luigi costumes with Stacey
• Attended the DragonConForums.org Meet and Greet at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
• Badge Pickup
• Trader Vic’s – got Stacey a Mai Tai
• Hilton room party – drinks with friends 
• Hilton Lobby DJ Party – Dancing

Friday
