DragonCon 2017, Thursday
|Thursday is now an official DragonCon date — our badges say so.
DragonConForums.org Meet & Greet
Enjoyed our annual meet and greet at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. The chicken is spicy but the food is so good — especially the mac and cheese. I won an amazing lightsaber at last year’s meet and greet so Karl and I brought prizes for this year’s raffle. It was fun to see people get excited over free stuff.
Badge Pickup & the DragonCon Store
Badge Pickup may have taken 15 minutes. When we first began attending DragonCon it often took 2-3 hours. Hooray for technology! We were sad to see Gyro King’s location has been bricked up. It was a staple of most of our trips to Atlanta. The line for the DragonCon store was super long. We were probably in line for 45 minutes at least. They were sold out of the t-shirt we wanted but we got this years Dragon plushie, a car magnet, and some other swag. I made $5 by buying a chick a lanyard. Score!
How to Make AMVs 101
Couldn’t resist getting a panel in on a Thursday so we hopped into this panel presented by Andrew Turner AKA Kireblue and learned a bit about making Anime Music Videos. I learned of some new software to try, some terminology, techniques, where to get source material, and the best places to share AMVs. Fun!
Evening Shenaniggins
Headed back to the room for a brief rest. After we woke we joined friends for dinner at High Velocity.
Dance, Dance, Dance
After a very late dinner, we walked around admiring costumes until we happened upon a DJ with an awesome portable setup. We had a blast watching people dance and I eventually joined in. I was even pulled out on the floor for a bit of social dancing which made me super happy. *I really need to practice more often.* It was a really great night.
