Birthday Celebrations at Half Dragon

Today is my 33rd birthday! Karl and I celebrated by visiting the High museum of art, dining at the Polaris, and spending the evening with Dragon Con friends. It was a lovely way to spend the day.

High Museum of Art

We visited the High to check out the Vik Muniz exhibition, and were delightfully surprised by a really great fashion exhibit by Iris Van Herpen. Both exhibits were fantastic! The High had also changed out a lot of their permanent collection so we ended up spending a whopping four hours inside. #SeriousEyeFatigue

Vik Muniz

Vik Muniz’s work was a pleasure to behold. Fun, whimsical, and engaging, his playfulness appeals to my inner child and makes me want to run home and experiment.

Iris Van Herpen: Transforming Fashion

Happened upon this really neat fashion exhibit. A lot of the outfits were crazy bizarre. Here are a few of my favorites.

Dinner at Polaris

Enjoyed an amazing dinner, and revolving view of Atlanta, at the lovely Polaris restaurant. It had a cool retro-modern vibe. The design and view aren’t nearly as good as those of the Sundial, but the food was awesome and it was nice to check another downtown restaurant off my list.

After dinner we met up with our Half Dragon friends in the Marriott where they surprised me with a cookie cake and a birthday beer. Such a sweet surprise! We hung out for awhile before heading to Trader Vic’s, which is always a treat. I always feel like I’ve been transported to a different world when I step off the elevator. It’s a great example of a themed restaurant done right. After a round of zombies we all made our way back to the Pulse where I had a delicious pomegranate beverage. #goodtimes
