Another Year Bites the Dust!
|My 32nd year upon this earth has begun. I wasn’t planning to do much in the way of observing it, but I sort of feel like I’ve felt the past two weeks celebrating. The first week was SPENOLA and it had nothing to do with my birthday. My trip to NOLA was immediately followed up with a family trip to TN to check out a quilt show my mom really wanted to attend. We had an early birthday dinner for me at The Old Mill restaurant which was quite nice. I tried trout for the first time and can’t say I particularly care for it. I spent most of my birthday in bed trying to rest as I began to feel a bit under the weather but enjoyed going out to the strip in Gatlinburg that evening with my aunt. We hit my favorite photo booth in Fannie Farkles and then I sampled moonshine at the distillery next door. The other patrons were kind and sang happy birthday to me and that really made my night. My aunt and I also enjoyed a round of mini golf. We were both very aware that I started out quite well while I had a buzz but lost my edge as it faded. I’ll have to remember that next time. 😉
I celebrated my birthday with my husband and friends on Saturday with a trip to Atlanta. We enjoyed snacks and drinks at the Sun Dial located on the 72nd floor of the Westin hotel. I gave everyone a tour of all the DragonCon hotels except the Sheraton, and then we drove to the Dave and Busters in Marietta. It was my first time and it felt a bit overwhelming at first but we had a good time. The food was good, some of the games were better. I particularly liked Kung Fu Panda and Speed of Light, both of which were interactive bop-it games requiring a little fist action. Fun!
