Korea Day 9: Taejongdae Park
|Our train for Busan departed at 4:30pm so we only had the first half of the day to explore. We decided to visit Taejongdae Park located on Yeongdo-gu island. The park would have been included in our tour the day before had the weather been more cooperative. We ended up walking over 6.7 miles (mostly uphill) at Taejongdae Park. It was grueling at times and I was worn out by the end of it, but we got to see some incredibly lovely views.
Day 9 Highlights
- Taejongdae Park
- Lunch in Yeongdo-gu
- Return to Seoul (KRX train)
Busan Day 2
We packed up our belongings, checked out of our AirBnB, and stashed our luggage in lockers at Busan Station so we could go exploring during the early part of the day.
Taejongdae Park
Entrance to the Park Park map. We walked from one to 7 along the bottom and then back. The train that normally takes people around the loop was closed due to wet roads. It was a pretty walk, but very steep. Taewon Pebble Beach Gumyeongsa Temple Figures at the shrine South Port Viewing Point Observatory Yeongdo Lighthouse View from the park entrance.
Lunch in Yeongdo-gu
Yeongdo-gu is the name of the island Taejongdae Park is located on. Bethany and I walked into one of the first convenient restaurants we found after exiting the park and had one of the best Korean meals of the trip.
Return to Busan Station
I love to ride around and sight-see when traveling both locally and overseas. Traveling provides a visual feast for the eyes and mind. Here are a few interesting sights I spotted along our way.
Busan Station
Back at the station, we stopped by Smoothie King for refreshing beverages. I also purchased a corn cream pastry for our trip. I love trying new and interesting flavors. It’s a bit faster to return to Seoul than it is to get to Busan so our train ride back was less than 3 hours. It departed from Busan at 4:30pm and arrived at Seoul Station at 7:09pm.
Return to Kookmin
We arrived back at Kookmin around 8pm. I went out looking for something to eat and ended up at the CU store in the Underground. I hadn’t been to it before and discovered more new and unusual items to try. The boxed dinner I purchased was very tasty.
We arrived back around 8pm Kookmin Dorms I love this view of the Underground. CU Convenience Store Mashed Veggies. I tried Potato & Banana. It was okay but not for me. So much visual texture. Dinner! Melon milk, rice, pasta, pickled sides, pork tonkatsu?, and I forget what was on the stick
