Korea Day 7: Lotte World & Train to Busan
|Today was the first of our weekly Friday field trips. We were supposed to visit Jeju Island but the weather didn’t want to cooperate. Instead, we visited an amazing Korean Folk museum, and Lotte World, the largest indoor amusement park in the world. After the field trip, Bethany and I took a train from Seoul Station to Busan Station to spend the weekend in the beach city of Busan.

Kookmin Field Trip
Korean Buffet
Our field trip began with lunch at a Korean Buffet inside the Lotte World mall. There were so many new and interesting dishes to try and everything was super yummy.
Lotte World Folk Museum
The Folk Museum was amazing! You could easily spent half a day in the museum learning about the history of the Korean people and admiring the many wax figures, dioramas, and miniatures.

Lotte World Adventure
Lotte World Adventure is an indoor/outdoor amusement park featuring the largest indoor amusement park in the world. We only had a few hours here which was barely enough to walk around, watch the parade, and ride one of the rides. I would have loved to of spent a full day here. I’ll definitely be returning with Karl when we get around to visiting this side of the world again. The amusement park is at least three stories with a large opening in the center with an ice skating rink on the bottom floor. I adored the design of the park and it’s mascot characters even though many things were blatant Disney ripoffs.
Traveling to Busan
Bethany and I booked an AirBnB in Busan, a large port city on the southeastern corner of South Korea known for its beaches and temples. We spent the evening taking a train from Seoul Station to Busan Station and arrived at our AirBnB around 1am in the morning.
Seoul Station
Bethany and I arrived at Seoul Station around 7:30pm. We were super excited to find a McDonalds but it was so packed we got our orders to go and ate on the step/seats in the train waiting area.
Train to Busan
Our train arrived around 8:30 pm and arrived in Busan around 12:30 am. It was dark so there wasn’t much to see once the train left Seoul but the train was quite comfortable and the trip seemed quite fast.
Busan
We tried to catch a taxi from Busan station since our AirBnB was a good bit away but we couldn’t get a cab to stop for us so we ended up walking. Thank goodness for the Naver app which is basically the Korean equivalent of Google Maps.
Our AirBnB
I enjoyed our little AirBnB. The one bedroom studio apartment was quite cute and well stocked with everything we needed for the weekend. I loved the little blue fridge and thought it was interesting that instead of a stovetop and oven the apartment only had a portable electric range.
